Oliveira et al. investigated the oxidation of chlorobenzene and xylene over chromium and Pd-impregnated Al-pillored bentonite (Oliveira et al., 2008). The catalyst was deactivated mainly due to the loss of Cr owing to the formation of the volatile compound CrO 2 Cl 2, decrease in the surface area, and formation of coke.
